An important part of the ' Behaviour Management' process is that students learn to become responsible for their own behaviour and that the school actively promotes positive behaviour. The School's Behaviour Management Programme has been developed by the staff and students of St. Raphael's School. The BMP outlines what type of student behaviour is expected and the consequences of differing types of behaviour.
All students in Year 7-10 are given a Behaviour Management Plan.
Movement Up
Commendations may be given by any member of the school staff, parents or guests into the school.
Commendations are placed in the box provided in the library and are compiled at the end of the week.
A printout of the student's level for each class group is placed in the teacher's pigeon hole. New commendation slips are also received by the teacher at this time.
Each class teacher is responsible for co-ordinating privileges for the different students.
Movement Down
Demerits are given for consistently doing something which is unacceptable.
Demerits accumulate over a ten week period from the date given. At the beginning of each second term all demerits may be negated at the discretion of the committee.
Demerits for secondary students are placed in the Secondary Co-ordinator's Office. Demerits for Primary Students are given to the Assistant Principal.
Any students who are close to going down a level are brought to the notice of the Assistant Principal or Secondary Co-ordinator by the class or home room teacher. The class and home room teacher should maintain a leading role in promoting pastoral care among the students.
Any students down a level are discussed at the meeting of the welfare committee. Students placed on level 3,2 or 1 could be prevented from representing the school or attending excursions whilst on the lower level.
For incidents which require immediate action, a referral slip is written by the Secondary Co-ordinator or Assistant Principal and the matter is dealt with at the earliest convenience.
